Ingredients
- 20-30 small ripe apples
- ½ cup water
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the apples thoroughly. Core and chop them into small pieces, leaving the skins on if you prefer a chunkier texture.
- Place the chopped apples into a slow cooker. Add the ½ cup of water to prevent sticking and help the apples cook down.
- If using, sprinkle the cinnamon over the apples for added flavor.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 4 to 5 hours. Stir the apples after a couple of hours to ensure even cooking.
- Once the apples are very soft, mash them with a potato masher for a chunky applesauce, or use an immersion blender for a smoother consistency.
- If desired, press the applesauce through a fine mesh strainer or food mill to remove any remaining skins or lumps.
- Allow the applesauce to cool before transferring it to airtight containers.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days, or freeze in freezer-safe bags or containers for longer storage.
