Sausage Patties

Servings: 8

Ingredients:

  • For the Sausage Patties
    • 1 pound ground pork (I prefer 85/15)
    • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
    • 1 teaspoon dried sage
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if you like it spicy)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sausage Patties
    1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the ground pork and all seasonings. Blend the meat until well combined.
    2. Use a large cookie scoop to make even-sized 3 tablespoon balls.
    3. Flatten each ball with your hands until less than 1/2″ thick to form the patties. This should make about 8 patties.
  2. Cook the Sausage Patties
    1. Heat a cast iron or heavy-bottom skillet over medium-high heat.
    2. Add the olive oil to prevent sticking and to help the patties brown.
    3. Place the patties in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides and they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees, about 5 minutes per side.
    4. Drain the cooked patties on a paper towel and serve warm.
